Blog: The Atom-Jet Connection

Meet the Team: Don Arksey

Mar 24, 2021

Don Arksey has been an integral member of the Atom-Jet team for 38 years. He originally worked as a machinist, when the original owner (Clare Coburn) had him involved early on with the development of seeding openers, which has led to Atom-Jet being recognized as a global leader in this business. From the advent of brazing tungsten carbide on high wear points, to the design of the vertical opener, Don has played a role in all Atom-Jet’s openers.

Throughout his years speaking with farmers at trade shows, as well as one on one, Don has demonstrated unparalleled knowledge of seeding tools, and his experience has provided our customers with solutions to many of their challenges. Don is often the first one in a truck to get out to the field and see what is going on. His commitment, along with the collaboration of our test growers, has led to the development of countless products on the opener market.

Once a busy seeding season ends, you’ll see Don’s truck either pulling a boat or camper, or sometimes both. An avid fisherman, Don loves to get out on the lake and enjoys camping with his wife and family. His winter months are spent on his vintage snowmobiles, with more time spent restoring them than actually riding, but Don is involved in numerous derbies and also helped found a local swap meet for vintage machines.

Atom-Jet wouldn’t be where it is today without Don’s commitment to our customers and developing products that will meet the demands of every seeding season.

We truly appreciate his dedication, not only to Atom-Jet, but to our customers as well; anyone that has dealt with Don over the years will echo those thoughts.
